tony ollivierras issued a generous number of singles and eps under the ibex moniker on rushhour, planet e, yore, and his own ibex music, and now follows up his 2010 yore release, meltdown, with absolution, though this time under his birth name. no matter: ollivierras music sounds great, whether issued under his real name or an alias, and absolution is no exception. the infectious title cut gets things moving with a bass-powered blend of claps and funky rhythms before chunky house chords and silken synth figures add to the tracks multi-layered splendour. a jazzier dimension rises to the surface of quick release when the tunes churning hi-hats are joined by royally swinging electric piano playing and luscious synth pads.phase down opts for a purer deep house sound in its focus on kick drums, claps, and futuristic synths, though the track proves that ollivierras naturally funky side cant help but emerge, here as it does elsewhere.

some proper quality house music on the 3rd and final part in the golden age trilogy by giles and martin aka the two armadillos. think larry heard, norm talley, delano smith and the likes! the a side once again is club track with a modulating, moody heavy, heavy bassline and lots of atmosphere. definitely one for big rooms but for deeper 5am moments with its strings and fluttering hypnotic keys. this has been going down a treat in both giles and martins dj sets for some time. >detroit dancer< has a jazzy scat drum programming, keys, plenty of atmosphere and sparkling synth solos. last up the downtempo musical and downright lazy vibes of >majestic< with its stand up bass, strings and keys play out and signal the final track of the trilogy of releases.

nice price deal !!! sects third and final sampler for the >its all for you< compilation ends on a bittersweet note, seeing the last release from sect favourite grovskopa, who has decided to retire following the closest of near death experiences. the a-side features lags remix of his sect classic >atopic<, reworking the lurching bass and broken-beat rhythms of the original into a hypnotic number with a fractured synth melody. the b-side sees >62:02<, a brittle yet powerful track with churning bass which recalls drexciyas classically hard edged approach, combined with hazy orchestral sweeps - a fitting swansong for a great producer.

with its 58th announcement, diynamic presents a three track various artists ep which will surely make every club and open air go insane. nobody else is a collaboration between netherlands export karmon and ntfo, who already appears on the various artist ep and on h.o.s.h.s latest ep. nobody else already got huge attention by the club scene. with its bouncy baseline and its driving hats highlighted by spherically playful notes nobody else immediately casts a spell over you. with his second contribution, karmon creates a wonderful interaction between good and evil. with the funky brass synth on top of a pumping baseline wowshit is a worthy employer name for this ep and a proof for of what 24 year old karmon is capable of. on the b side betoko delivers a melodic dance tune.raining again convinces by a deep male vocal with is supported by dramatic organs and a bouncy baseline. to be honest, the meaning of the hook is familiar to everyone

summer is here people and ovum recordings are about to kick start the season with yet another label debut from dirty channels & bugsy. and this time it already comes recommended. techno takes a back seat as the label continue their stunning run of house releases with alone. label chief josh wink had asked house don, dave pezzner if he had anything in the locker for ovum. having just completed his own rework of alone, he sent it across and within minutes the ovum crew had fallen for its charms. josh actually tweaked the original pezzner remix for his own sets and before long has snapped up the whole release for ovum. dirty channels team up with longtime friend bugsy on the deliciously smooth alone. with their warm bassline, velvety synth and the sultry vocals of amina, the trio have delivered the perfect summer soundtrack. with a brace of mixes from wink backed with a reworked and refreshed double from pezzner, ovum are ready to turn up the heat. enjoy!

as ajello say:the idea for a cover version of n.o.i.a.s looking for love was born a couple of years ago - an idea of alessandro piatto, younger brother of davide piatto, original member of n.o.i.a. as soon as alessandro proposed it,we asked whether we could have the original tracks but, unfortunately,they have been lost over the years.immediately his brother davide brought together the original lineup of n.o.i.a.and locked them up in the studio to record the voice from scratch and some of the synth parts. our intervention was first on the drums, replacing the original for a more uptempo beat, and then the bassline, shaping it to a more modern sound. the vocals were treated with filters and echoes,and we also added some new guitar parts and synth lines. it was an honour to us, ajello, to bring to light an italo-disco classic that has really influenced us and we have put all our efforts to create a version that is timeless, as much as the original.

tireless producer, tronic boss and top international dj christian smith here steps up for his first release on plus 8. over the years christian has offered up a high volume and high quantity of techno inclined singles for myriad labels (bedrock, systematic, 100percent pure, soma), so it only makes sense he now finds himself on one of the scenes most reliable outposts for such material. the two track ep kicks off with house is house which is, as the name suggests, a little house-ier than the flip, but still deals in plenty of heavy bass weight and slick repetition. the devil is in the detail filtered, dark voices, rattling cowbells, washes of white noise synths and long, thin, forward looking pads - all of which are married to a mid-tempo groove. the more forceful indulge me then follows. taught kick drums start immediately as claps and subtle synth stabs swell in volume until they eventually fill out the whole airwaves. squirming behind are thin and icy steel lines until the first drop when the deliciously bouncy groove sets in proper. far from aping the usual detroit and chicago tropes, christian smith has once again crafted two classy dance floor joints that are not only exquisitely produced, but that bare all the usual hallmarks of christian smith, one of the most consistent producers in the game.

energy loaded raw techno anthems. kawl them bombs! next installment of the killer kawl series by lee holman brings four menacing tracks of dark edgytechno. kawl 4.0 opens the ep with a looping percussion piece which builds and builds with concussive intent. 4.1 continues with a solid groove, rasping synth stabs and a grotty industrial technoid bassline to devestating effect. kawl 4.2 takes a different route and rhythmically changes direction back and forth, intensifying with precision as the track meanders through to conclusion. the final track of the ep is 4.3, a deeper affair with bursts of white noise, a murky bassline and an emotive hypnotic lead line captivating its way to stunning completion.

full pupp helps another new outfit into the saddle. even though esteemed norwegian dj ole martin vilberg aka omar v and robin craaford, one half of dance disorder with baby g (bpitch, eskimo) are hardly young guns, they gang up together for the first time on complete: a blinding cut that harks back to the time with good ol jack was still the young buck and closely associated with uncle electro funk: tough beats, hyperactive claps, a jittering bass and a catchy, squeaking melody are still rattling bones if masterfully pieced together as it is done here. the guy most closely related to the italo sound out of the whole norwegian disco bunch chucks the more intricate original rhythm but goes hypertechnicolor and widescreen on the synth parts boosting up the originals melody, throwing in a nod to happy station and a hi-energy bassline.

the ninth release from the mainrecords shop, on its eponymously titled label comes in the form of three tracks of slick late night electro from matt star, plus a remix from perseus traxx. with well over three dozen releases under his belt in one guise or another matt star aka mattias schildger is no stranger at all to production of high quality electronic music, as this latest ep clearly displays. happily blurring boundaries between house and electro, with its tight, crisp beats the release exudes a form of stripped back and honest late night cool with basses that bubble in a way sometimes reminiscent of ed dmx, while others lend more of a chicago feel accompanied by rolling toms. synth lines and arpeggiations cut in and out of subtle modulations giving the feel of anticipation one gets while tearing along the motorways of a city, late at night, the lights of the city and other vehicles brightly darting by, streaking and reflecting across the cars windscreen. perseus traxx delivers a subtle remix that remains true to the elements of the original and while adding a booming kick and some of his own production techniques, influences and grit to the mix, shows he isnt stuck in one genre or sound.

breathing the air of late spring in rome, the climate is one of wonderful sunsets and open-air dance floors. this is the picture that attilio tucci and sergio picciaredda capture in their proverbial camera under the pseudonym camilla green, a continuing collaboration with wild cat, which started with altarboy of the album left below (wwr004.) the harmony between the line of 303 and the pad synth on lost love evokes intense emotions and opens up in a revolving way. the track >xo< emerges techno with the beauty of its essential components: the fast-paced beat, the hypnotic samples, the wise use of the acid sound that never sound noisy. the warm voice of wild cat in both the tracks will envelope you. let inhibitions go and dance. the higher powers say youll need to stock up on these beautiful pictures and memories of late spring to help you get through another cold winter.

alden tyrell hooked up with mike dunn for some new work!. a golden combination which already worked out great as we learned from the heavy remix tyrell did for the murphy jax & mike dunn collaboration (its the music - cat# cjfd06). tyrell always jamming and playing around with his synths had some tracks inspired by early mike dunn songs. so the obvious happened ... the hooked up for some appropiate vocals and here it is ... touch the sky! a peak time acid monster with mikes vocal chant in the style of his classic md3 projects. gerd is on remix duty here and delivers a killer remix with a more traditional chicago groove and build up. clone head honcho serge had some studio time with tyrell for a dub mix. the serge & tyrell dub mix turned out a bit wild and became a classic piece of piano and dx bass driven chicago house music with stuttering vocal samples and a acidic synth line. another strong clone jack for daze!

double ten inch pack edition of the debut release from love interest, a newly minted label from the juno records enclave. minneapolis based electroboogie crooner nyteowl has been handed the honour of the debut release with the prince-leaning >love of mine<, and this edition features remixes from both brassica and astro chicken founder hyboid. given the nature of their output, both are perfectly placed to tease out the nuances of a 80s referencing electronic soul track and brassica in particular excels, extracting gleeful new levels of texture out of the synth sounds with a truly twisted remix. hyboid adopts an outer galactic electro poise reminiscent of his finest output on astro chicken, and if vocals arent your thing, check the b-side of each ten inch slab for instrumental mixes.

a new label from some of the decision makers at juno arrives in the shape of love interest, promising a release schedule that eschews genres in favour of seeking out international talent that piques their fancy. minneapolis-based nyteowl is at the helm for the first release with >love of mine<. this clear vinyl twelve inch edition sports two fine remixes from boy 8 bit and mighty mouse, which naturally take the 80s swagger of the original in differing directions. boy 8 bit calls on all his studio trickery with a remix that constantly shifts sonically before dropping into an excellent final detuned synth passage, whilst nu-disco troupe mighty mouse are on soaring form, adding some meat to that beat, whilst nyteowls vocal hitches a ride on an upwards arpeggio.
